What is Volvo subscription?

Volvo subscription is a 24-month subscription lease program with an all-inclusive monthly payment. This payment includes the usage of the vehicle, maintenance, and other common services related to vehicle ownership. Volvo also takes care of the insurance coverage†.

What is the difference between Care by Volvo and Volvo subscription, and how does this affect me?

If you signed a Care by Volvo Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement dated February 29, 2024 or earlier, you are a Care by Volvo subscriber and are subject to the terms of your specific Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement, including the Early Termination: Cancellation Option available beginning at the 5th month in your lease term (subject to eligibility requirements). Contracts entered in the State of Illinois will be eligible for cancellation after 12 months. Volvo subscription, as described on this site, is not the same as Care by Volvo. You still maintain the same coverage and program benefits as described by your Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement when you signed up. Please contact Customer Care at 800-550-5658, option 1 should you have any questions about the differences.
If you signed a Volvo subscription Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement dated March 1, 2024 or forward, you are a Volvo subscription customer and are subject to the terms of your lease. What is the difference between a Volvo subscription and a traditional car lease?

When you lease a car, you are contracted for a longer period, typically 36 months. With Volvo subscription, you don’t have the same long-term commitment, as we provide you with the ability to cancel your subscription and return the vehicle any time after 12 months in the lease term and 12 payments have been made to Volvo Car Financial Services. To be eligible to terminate the lease early, you must enter a new contract with Volvo Car Financial Services for another subscription, lease, or finance (new or certified pre-owned).

What maintenance is included?

With your Volvo subscription, we include complimentary factory scheduled maintenance services recommended for your Volvo (according to your Warranty & Maintenance booklet) at each 10,000-mile interval. This maintenance offering is enhanced to also include common wear items: replacement wiper blades, brake pads, and rotors. This coverage enhancement is included for the principal 24-month term or the first 30,000 miles from starting mileage listed in the lease contract, whichever comes first.

What is Excess Wear and Use Protection?

When your vehicle is returned, it will be subject to inspection by a third party. With Volvo subscription, we will waive up to $1,000 of excess wear on the condition report. Examples of excess wear include large dents and dings to body panels, windshield damage, and tire replacement due to wear, scratched or gouged wheels, and interior damage.

What is Road Hazard Tire and Wheel Protection?

With Volvo subscription, we repair or replace unlimited tires and wheels damaged by road hazards, which include debris on the road or road conditions such as potholes. This coverage is included for the principal 24-month term or the first 30,000 miles from starting mileage listed in the lease contract, whichever comes first.

What about taxes and registration fees?

Taxes and registration fees vary by state and are not included in the subscription price shown online. Your monthly payment including taxes and fees will be summarized to you before processing your order.
Based on your state of residence, the registration fee might need to be paid separately. You may also be required to pay the annual registration fee and an excise and/or personal property tax assessment which will not be included in your monthly payment.

Can I purchase additional mileage with Volvo subscription?

The Volvo subscription includes an allotment of 1,250 miles per month.  Unfortunately, we do not offer additional mileage to be purchased with Volvo subscription at this time.  If you exceed the 1,250 mile-per-month allotment, you will be charged an additional $0.25 per mile when you return your Volvo.

Where is Volvo subscription offered?

Volvo subscription is available for residents in US states excluding ND, SD, NC, HI, and MS. Volvo subscriptions cannot be sold by retailers located in the states of Virginia or Florida but subscriptions can be registered and insured in those states. For New York and California residents only, an alternate subscription offer, not including insurance, is offered through retailers in those states.

Who can subscribe?

Volvo subscriptions are intended for individual and family use, not for business use. The use of a subscription for ride shares, delivery services, or similar activities is prohibited.

Can I cancel my subscription early?

Should you be in good standing with Volvo Car Financial Services, you can leverage the Early Termination Cancellation Option any time after 12 months in the lease term and 12 payments have been made to VCFS. To have your remaining payments waived, you’ll have to enter a new contract with VCFS at the time of cancellation (lease, subscription, or financing of a new or CPO vehicle). Please be aware that at vehicle return you will receive a final bill for any excess mileage above your 1,250 mile/month allowance and excessive wear per the vehicle condition report above the $1,000 waiver.  Please reference your Volvo subscription Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement for complete details.

Can I switch my Volvo vehicle to another model prior to the end of the 24-month term?

Volvo subscription is a flexible program. If you meet the requirements to utilize the early termination cancellation option, it is easy to return your vehicle and re-apply for a new vehicle. You can begin your journey online, contact Volvo subscription Concierge, or visit your local retailer request a new subscription.

Can I take my vehicle outside of the United States?

Yes, you can drive your vehicle in Canada for 30 days or less at a time. You may not operate your subscription vehicle in Mexico or any other country.

What happens if I move to another state?

Notify Volvo Car Financial Services customer care immediately by calling 866-499-6793.
To obtain new insurance cards (where applicable) and required documentation for you to re-register the vehicle at your local DMV office, please contact Volvo subscription Concierge at 800-550-5658 and select option 1.
Unfortunately, we are not able to provide insurance coverage in states where insurance is not included in the offer†. If you are planning to move to one of those states and are a legacy Care by Volvo subscriber, please be prepared to either arrange for your own personal insurance policy or you can utilize the Early Termination: Cancellation Option, if you are eligible, listed in your Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement.
If you are a Volvo subscription customer, the language in your Volvo subscription Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement shall apply and prevail.

What happens in the event of a breakdown?

With your new Volvo subscription, you receive complimentary roadside assistance, with support available 24/7. Towing is available within 100 miles of the nearest Volvo retailer.

What happens at the end of my subscription period?

At the end of your subscription period, you will need to return the vehicle to an authorized Volvo retailer. You will receive a final bill for any excess mileage above your 1,250 miles/month allowance and excessive wear per the vehicle condition report above the $1,000 waiver.
Additionally, a disposition (turn-in) fee of $450 is applicable unless you decide to sign a new contract to subscribe, lease or finance a new Volvo car through Volvo Car Financial Services at that time.

Can I purchase my Volvo?

Getting started

How do I start a Volvo subscription order?

Start by choosing a car from our available vehicles online or work with your preferred retailer to choose a vehicle from their in-stock inventory.
After selecting a car, you will need to complete a few simple steps to confirm your eligibility. Eligibility is based on insurance and credit factors. Once your order is confirmed, our Volvo subscription Concierge Team will contact you to arrange delivery. If you choose to subscribe to a vehicle from your preferred retailer’s in-stock inventory, the retailer will help arrange delivery.

What do I need to sign up?

You must have a valid US driver’s license.

How is eligibility determined?

Program eligibility is determined by several different risk factors including credit. If ineligible for the program, we won’t be able to provide the specific cause, as there are several factors that contribute to this decision.
We do accept joint applications where both applicants will need to qualify for the subscription.
Any driver looking to operate the vehicle regularly should ensure their name is included on the insurance application. You do not have to be a cosigner to include your name on the insurance application.

Can I trade in my car with Volvo subscription?

A trade-in cannot be applied to the Volvo subscription. If you have a trade-in, your preferred Volvo retailer can assist you with your trade as a separate transaction.

Can I cancel my new online Volvo subscription order, if necessary?

Yes, you will need to contact our Volvo subscription Concierge team at 800-550-5658, option 1 to cancel your online order prior to you signing the Volvo subscription Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement. Once your Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement is signed, you are not able to cancel your subscription unless you meet the eligibility criteria for Early Termination per your Motor Vehicle Lease Agreement.

Can Volvo subscription be combined with other offers?

Volvo subscription cannot be sold in conjunction with any other promotional offer or special program.


How does insurance work?

As part of the Volvo subscription program, Volvo takes care of insurance†. We partner with Liberty Mutual Insurance to obtain comprehensive coverage for our vehicles.

Who is eligible to drive the Volvo subscription vehicle?

Subject to state-specific rules and eligibility requirements, all drivers disclosed and approved during the sign-up process will be covered. Please contact 800-550-5658 and press option 1 if you have additional questions.

How do I get my insurance documents?

All required insurance documents will be provided at time of delivery. Eligible subscribers can view their insurance card in the Volvo Cars app. To obtain a copy of your insurance summary or to replace lost ID cards, please reach out to the Volvo subscription Concierge team at 800-550-5658 and press option 1.

What insurance coverages are included?†

Our commercial policy’s coverages and limits meet or exceed state requirements, are pre-selected, and cannot be modified.
All operators must be disclosed at time of application.

  • Bodily injury/Physical Damage Liability: $300,000 Combined Single Limit
  • Uninsured and underinsured motorist: Equal to Combined Single Limit Liability limits
  • Comprehensive/collision deductible: $500 deductible
  • Personal Injury Protection, No-Fault, Medical Payments: Varies by state
  • Hired and Non-Owned Auto Liability/Physical Damage Coverage: $300,000
  • Medical payments: $5,000 (if PIP is not available)
  • Rental or Transportation Expense Reimbursement: $45/day for up to 30 days

Use of a subscription vehicle or any hired (like rental cars) or non-household-owned auto in conjunction with this insurance coverage in any vehicle sharing program or to transport passengers or goods for hire is prohibited; hired or non-household-owned autos may not be used for business purposes.
Rental vehicles you may obtain may be covered for personal use only.

How much is the insurance deductible?


Can I add the Volvo subscription vehicle under my existing Umbrella policy?

This should be confirmed with your current umbrella insurance provider prior to taking delivery. We can provide you with the insurance coverage details and your vehicle VIN to share with your provider.

What will happen in the event of a total loss?

Your Volvo subscription includes GAP insurance to provide you with a worry-free experience.  In the unfortunate event of a total loss situation, you will be responsible for your Volvo subscription payments up to the date of the loss as well as your deductible.

When does insurance coverage start/end?

Coverage of your vehicle commences upon taking delivery of your subscription vehicle. Coverage is concluded when you return the subscription lease to the retailer or when you purchase the vehicle.

Vehicle delivery

When does my subscription start?

If you are starting your order online, after confirming eligibility, you can expect your vehicle to arrive at your selected retailer within about 2-3 weeks (subject to vehicle availability and transit time). Your subscription term will start the day you pick up your vehicle and sign the lease agreement.

What vehicle delivery options do I have?

Once your vehicle is available, your selected retailer will contact you to schedule a time that works best for you. You can pick up the vehicle at that retailer or if you prefer home delivery, please contact your preferred retailer for available options.

What do I need to bring to the retailer?

At the time of pick up, please bring your driver’s license and the first month’s payment.
If you are a NY or CA resident only, please bring a copy of your personal insurance card as you’ll need to prove coverage to take delivery.

Are personal license plates/vanity plates allowed on Volvo subscription?

Yes – contact your local retailer for more information.

Can I add accessories to my vehicle?

Yes, you can purchase any Volvo accessory (including things like window tints) through your Volvo retailer, however it cannot be rolled into your monthly payment.
