Setting up Trips for your vehicle

Trips automatically logs all journeys made with your vehicle. To start logging journeys, you first need to enable Trips and turn on location sharing.

Note

The availability of Trips can vary depending on vehicle model, model year and region. Available functions may also vary over time.

This article is applicable to models with Google built-in.

To use Trips, make sure you have the Trips app downloaded in the center display. When Trips is enabled, the app automatically collects your vehicle's VIN[1], location and other trip-related data, such as time, distance, fuel and electric consumption. You can view the Trips log in both the Volvo Cars app and the Trips app in your vehicle.

Note

Make sure that your vehicle, the Volvo Cars app and the Trips app have the newest software version installed.

You can check your vehicle's software version via settings in the center display.

Setting up Trips

You can set up Trips via the center display.

  1. Press the app library symbol in the bottom bar.
  2. Open the Trips app.
  3. Turn on the Trips log.
  4. Consent to the privacy permissions and enable location sharing.
You are now all set for your trips to be logged.

Note

Enabling Trips via the Volvo Cars app

You can also turn on the Trip log via the Volvo Cars app. However, you still need to consent to privacy permissions and enable location sharing via your vehicle's center display.

Viewing trips

When Trips is enabled, all users who have paired the Volvo Cars app with the vehicle can see the trips. If Trips is disabled, the vehicle stops sending information about new trips.

Information about a trip is stored for 400 days.

Profiles

Trips need to be enabled separately for each profile that uses the vehicle. This includes enabling consent and permissions.
