Resetting windows

If you're experiencing issues with a power-operated window, such as failure to close properly, you may need to reset it.

Calibration errors

Your vehicle continuously monitors your windows and how they are positioned. Sometimes, an error can occur causing your vehicle to perceive a window's position to be different than it actually is. This can cause errors with certain functions, such as pinch protection. If there is a calibration error with a window, you can reset it yourself or with help from an authorized Volvo workshop.

Note

Panoramic roof

If the panoramic roof isn't working properly, contact an authorized Volvo workshop.

Important

The pinch protection system might not work properly until the window has been reset after losing calibration.

If the 12 V battery has been disconnected, a reset is required for pinch protection to work.

Resetting a window

  1. Use the switches on the driver door panel to close the window you want to reset. Lightly pull the switch until the window is completely closed.
  2. Quickly and lightly pull the switch three times.
The window is recalibrated. Pinch protection and automatic window movement are re-enabled.

Check to make sure that the window operates correctly after following the reset steps. The window should close completely when you pull the switch all the way and release. If the problem persists, contact an authorized Volvo workshop.
