This is an honor that recognizes 50 individuals worldwide who are driving measurable, scalable impact in the fight against climate change.

Vanessa’s inclusion on this prestigious list reflects not only her leadership but also Volvo Cars’ unwavering commitment to sustainability. The future is electric, and we are at the forefront of this transition. We already have 6 electric cars on the market and 4 more coming.

For example, our EX30 has the lowest carbon footprint of any fully electric Volvo car to date, built with up to 25% recycled aluminum, 17% recycled steel, and 17% recycled plastics. Or let’s look at our EX90, featuring 22% recycled aluminum, 23% recycled steel, and 13% recycled or bio-based polymers. It’s also the Volvo Cars’ world’s first EV to include a blockchain-based battery passport, tracing the origins of critical raw materials.

“Technology is a transformative force, one that enables us to accelerate both safety and sustainability. But it is leadership that ensures this transformation is purposeful and far-reaching. Innovation should drive meaningful change across value chains and society at large, and we need bold leadership to steer that innovation toward impact,” says Vanessa Butani, Head of Global Sustainability at Volvo Cars.

“Electric cars exemplify how technology drives sustainability, going far beyond simply eliminating tailpipe emissions.”

From battery intelligence and megacasting to AI-powered design, we now have cars that are more efficient, but also smarter, more circular, and better aligned with the needs of customers and the planet,” Butani continues.

We welcome this recognition and can proudly look back at other achievements and recognitions of our progress received in the past year.

These achievements are the result of a company-wide commitment to sustainability. From pioneering battery passports using blockchain technology to reducing water use and waste in manufacturing, we continue to push boundaries in sustainable innovation in the automotive industry.
