We have so much to thank the ocean for. But we also owe it a lot in return.

Our ambition

To create a bigger voice for ocean health and ocean rights. 

In 2024 we extended the partnership with The Ocean Race, with focus on ocean health. We aim to work together to support global efforts to restore and protect important maritime ecosystems and use the power of sport and people to inspire and advocate for change that results in a healthier ocean.

The ultimate ocean marathon

The Ocean Race is often described as the longest and toughest professional sporting event in the world. The concept is simple: a race around the world, pitting the sport’s best sailors against each other, across the world’s most challenging waters. The around-the-world race takes place every four years, with the next edition scheduled to start in January 2027 from Alicante, Spain, with stopovers in New Zealand, Brazil, the USA and Europe before a grand finale sprint to Amaala on the Red Sea.

The Ocean Race Atlantic 2026

The Ocean Race Atlantic is a high-speed, fully-crewed transatlantic sprint for the foiling IMOCA class, debuting in September 2026 as the first point-to-point race in the event’s 50-year history. The Ocean Race Atlantic will bring together the leading offshore sailors as a fleet of boats races from New York (USA) to Lorient (France). This is a new chapter for The Ocean Race, introducing a fully-crewed, gender-balanced format (two women and two men, plus an on board reporter) on a point-to-point race course designed to showcase the best the sport has to offer. Volvo Cars will welcome sailors and the public at our pop-up Volvo Studio in Lorient, which will offer experiential games, activities for the whole family, and fully-electric vehicles on display and available for test drives.
