Mr. Peter M. Butterfield is the Executive Vice President, Car Business Unit for Volvo Cars of North America, LLC. Mr. Butterfield's current responsibilities include overall responsibilities for car business profitability and performance, sales planning and logistics, commercial business (fleet, pre-owned, TDS), network development and management of the organization's field infrastructure. Prior to this Mr. Butterfield was responsible for the world's third largest Volvo market as Regional Vice President of the Northeast Region for Volvo Cars of North America, LLC. During his five year tenure, Mr. Butterfield streamlined the retailer network by 20% while leading the region to consistent annual increases in both volume and market share
Mr. Butterfield has served on the board of directors for Volvo Finance North America, LLC. He is currently serving as a member of the board of directors for Volvo Cars Australia and Volvo Finance Australia.
Mr. Butterfield began his Volvo career as North American Sales Development Manager in 1990 and shortly thereafter assumed the position of North American Sales Manager. His efforts were instrumental in stopping declining sales trends and improving sales ten percent after a six year low.
During 1993, Mr. Butterfield led a reorganization task force resulting in a decentralization of responsibilities into four business units which were responsible for Volvo Cars North America's profits and losses. In 1995, Mr. Butterfield took over as Vice President of the Northeast Region where he served until his recent elevation.
Prior to being recruited by Volvo, Mr. Butterfield had a 13-year career with Ford Motor Company where he held a variety of positions in parts, service, distribution, sales and management, which assisted him in developing substantial skills in sales, market analysis, marketing and leadership.
A native of Winnetka, Illinois, Mr. Butterfield is a graduate of Northern Illinois University. He and his wife, Vija, live in Saddle River, New Jersey with their two children, Adam and Erika.
