Volvo Announces U. S. Pricing for V60 Sportswagon

Front-drive, 240-hp version powered by new Drive-E engine

ROCKLEIGH, N.J. (Jan. 2, 2014) – Combining the driving dynamics of a luxury sports sedan with the space and utility to support an active lifestyle, the V60 sportswagon is Volvo's highly anticipated re-entry into the U.S. wagon market. Volvo Cars of North America released pricing for the V60, which starts at $35,300.

"The Volvo legacy in the U.S. was built, in part, on wagons, and we're excited to continue that tradition with the new V60," said Volvo Cars of North America President and CEO Tony Nicolosi. "It offers the clever versatility you'd expect from a Volvo wagon, while it also projects an elegant, sculptured appearance that equally straddles luxury and performance. That combination of attributes makes the Volvo V60 special."

The sportswagon, scheduled to hit showrooms later this month, expresses a refreshed Volvo design that includes muscular contours on the shoulders at either side of the lower body, creating a powerful double wave from the headlights at the front to the tail lights at the rear. Inside, rear seats can be folded down in three 40/20/40 segments, allowing its interior space to be configured for passengers and loaded in a remarkably flexible way.

Starting Price for Each Engine

The V60 will feature front-drive power from Volvo's new Drive-E family and all-wheel-drive models will be powered by engines from Volvo's current lineup. A Drive-E gasoline engine will be offered — a two-liter, turbocharged, 240-horsepower version. All V60 models will include a moonroof as standard equipment. The destination charge is $925 for all models.

The front-drive, two-liter, Drive-E V60, making 240 horsepower and 258 lbs.-feet of torque, begins at $35,300. It benefits from Volvo's new 8-speed automatic transmissionand goes zero to 60 in 6.1 seconds. An all-wheel-drive version, powered by the current five-cylinder engine, making 250 horsepower and 266 lbs.-feet of torque, starts at $36,800 and moves zero to 60 in 6.6 seconds. At the top of the power heap is the all-wheel-drive V60 R-Design, making 325 horsepower and 354 lbs.-feet of torque, starting at $44,300.

The new Drive-E powertrains are developed in-house at Volvo's R&D department in Sweden — targeting best-in-class combined fuel economy — and signal an important part of the company's strategy for advancement. Smaller and lighter than other engine offerings, Drive-E powertrains efficiently deliver what was once only thought possible with six or eight cylinders.

Most Powerful Wagon in Volvo History

For the more performance-minded individual, Volvo's R-Design version of the V60 promises a more intense driving experience, sprinting zero to 60 in 5.4 seconds. Decked out in distinctive R-Design visual cues, revved by the performance-tuned T6 engine and enhanced with Advanced Quick Shift — transmission optimization software that improves the speed of each gear change — the V60 R-Design will be the fastest and most powerful wagon in Volvo history.
