Digital key activation link
When you first set up your Volvo ID, you will receive an activation link via text message or email. Following this link opens the guide for creating a digital key in your phone's wallet app. However, if you skip this step during set up, you can still use this link at any time.
If you need a new activation link—for example, if you lose your phone—you can request a new link by logging in to the Volvo Portal website.
Creating a digital key via the center display
- the vehicle is stationary
- you are logged into the vehicle owner's account in the center display
- both your vehicle and your phone are connected to the internet
- both your vehicle and your phone are updated to the latest software version
- Bluetooth is enabled on your phone
- you have access to the Volvo ID registered to the vehicle owner's account.1

After creating a digital key
Once you’ve set up your digital key, you can share it with family and friends. Open the digital key in your phone's wallet app to find the sharing option. This lets you send an invitation link to the person you want to share the key with. Opening this link on the device they want to store their key on opens the setup guide in their wallet app.
Tip
Moving a key to another device
When you have finished setting up a digital key, you will receive an activation link. This link can be used to move the digital key to another device, such as a new phone. This can also be done via the center display by accessing the owner's profile settings, selecting your primary digital key and pressing Change device.
