Background
To further enhance the Volvo ownership experience, Volvo Car USA LLC and Volvo Car Canada Limited is offering the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty. This warranty ensures that a customer replacing a part at a Volvo Cars authorized retailer only pays for a replacement once, providing peace of mind and potentially significant savings over the life of the vehicle.
Customer Offer- Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty
Volvo Car USA LLC and Volvo Car Canada Limited warrants to the original retail purchaser of each new Volvo Genuine Part (replacement part- excluding accessories, consumable, and wear parts as listed below) that such part installed at a Volvo Cars authorized retailer will be free from defects in material or workmanship. This would exclude any outside influence. Coverage under the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty includes the labor to replace the covered replacement part. This warranty is nontransferable.
Coverage- Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty
Parts & Labor
The original retail purchaser of a new Volvo Genuine Part (replacement part) purchased and installed at a Volvo Cars authorized retailer in the U.S. and Canada is eligible for the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
Parts and labor coverage under this warranty are only applicable when the new Volvo Genuine Part (replacement part) has been purchased and installed at a Volvo Cars authorized retailer.
Parts sold “over the counter” that are not installed by a Volvo Cars authorized retailer are potentially covered by the Two (2) Year Parts Counter/Wholesale Parts Warranty.
Aftermarket & Discontinued Parts
In situations where the Volvo Genuine Part (replacement part) previously purchased and installed at a Volvo Cars authorized retailer are discontinued, the Volvo Cars Aftersales Market Manager or Region Aftersales Manager will assist in finding an aftermarket alternative. Close consideration should be given when deciding on the aftermarket source. The aftermarket parts would be paid for under the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty. If necessary, subsequent replacement of the aftermarket part will be administered solely by the aftermarket source and not Volvo Car USA LLC and Volvo Car Canada Limited.
Consequential Damage
When a part is replaced (using a Volvo Genuine Part -replacement part only) under the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty and it causes the failure of a non-covered part, the non-covered part will also be covered. (For example, an alternator fails under the provisions of the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty and the battery has failed as a result; the battery would then be covered.)
When a part is replaced under the provisions of the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty and it fails, however it is then determined the failure was caused by another component failure, the replacement part would not be covered under the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
Greater/Lesser Assemblies
Volvo Cars’ requirement for the replacement of defective part(s) when it is part of a greater assembly is that only the defective part(s) is/are replaced and not the greater assembly. If the specific defective component of the greater assembly is unavailable or on backorder, the greater assembly may be used but requires prior approval from the Aftersales Market Manager/Region Aftersales Manager (e.g., if climate box replacement purchased as a greater assembly which comes with the evaporator and the evaporator fails, the lesser assembly of the evaporator should be replaced).
Additional Included Repairs- Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty
The following repairs/parts replacements are covered under the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
Extended Service Contract Repairs
Effective with repairs dated on or after July 1, 2022. Repairs that are paid for in full or partially by Mechanical Breakdown or Extended Service Contracts that are performed at a Volvo Cars authorized retailer are eligible for coverage under the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
Goodwill Repairs
Parts and labor that were previously covered under Goodwill, in full or partially, are eligible for coverage under the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
Software
Software associated/required with a hard part replacement to complete the repair is covered by the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
Parts purchased and installed at different Volvo Cars authorized retailers
Volvo Genuine Parts (replacement parts) purchased at one Volvo Cars authorized retailer and installed at another Volvo Cars authorized retailer are covered under the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty. (A copy of the parts invoice must be attached to the labor only replacement RO.)
Exclusions- Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty
Wear Items (Normal Wear & Tear) As part of the vehicle’s normal service and maintenance requirements, certain parts need to be replaced due to wear and tear. Those parts are excluded from the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
If purchased at and installed by a Volvo Cars authorized retailer, they may be covered for manufacturer defects only under the Two (2) Year Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
These parts include, but may not be limited to, the following:
• Batteries (Support Battery)
• Batteries for remote keyless entry
• Belts
• Brake Pads
• Bulbs
• Clutch Lining
• Filters
• Floor Mats
• Fuses
• Rotors (excluding run out)
• Spark Plugs
• Timing Belts
• Upholstery/rugs
• Wiper blades
• Tires (See Tire manufacturers warranty)
Parts Counter/Wholesale Parts Purchases
Parts Counter/Wholesale Parts Purchases are excluded from the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
Accessories
Volvo Genuine Accessories are excluded from the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
Batteries
12 Volt Batteries: 12 Volt Interstate batteries are covered by the Interstate Battery policy.
High Voltage, PHEV, MHEV Batteries: Not covered under this policy. These components have their own policy.
Volvo Certified Limited Warranty Repairs (VCPO- Volvo Certified Preowned)
VCPO repairs are not considered “Customer Pay” and therefore are not covered under the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty. Parts replaced during a VCPO repair are covered for 90 days or the remainder of the Volvo Certified Preowned Warranty, whichever is greater.
New Vehicle Warranty Repairs
New Vehicle Warranty repairs are not considered “Customer Pay” and therefore are not covered under the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty. Parts replaced under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty are covered for 90 days or the remainder of the New Vehicle Warranty, whichever is greater.
Consumables
Consumables (i.e., gaskets, seals, grommets, washers, bolts, nuts, etc.) with a demonstrable manufacturer defect are covered under the Two (2) Year Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
Software
Software that is not associated with “a hard part” replacement is not eligible for coverage under the Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
Hard Part Failure During Download
A hard part that fails while performing a download (consequential damage due to attempted download) is covered by the current Two (2) Year Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
Other Warranties
Any replacement part that is currently covered by its own specific component-warranty will remain covered by that warranty and will not be eligible for Volvo Customer Lifetime Replacement Parts & Labor Warranty.
