With the purchase of new navigation software, certain Volvos will be eligible to have a software update performed by their authorized Volvo dealer to allow the navigation system to be updated via USB Internet file download instead of via the navigation discs. This software pertains to the following year and model Volvos:
2011 S60 & XC60
2012 S60, XC60, S80, & XC70
2013 S60, XC60, S80, & XC70
2014 S60, XC60, S80, & XC70
2015 S60, V60, XC60, S80, & XC70 - models not equipped with an in car modem
Note: If you receive a message requesting the License Code you will need to have the software update installed by your Volvo Dealer before you are able to update your maps via USB. Please refer to your Volvo Dealer for specific pricing for the software.
The download is carried out using a program installed on your computer. This program helps you to download the large map file and allows you to interrupt the download and resume it later. Depending on your Internet connection and file size, it may take over 2 hours to fully download to the USB from your computer.The map must be downloaded to an empty 32 GB USB memory stick formatted with FAT32.

Once you have the map updates downloaded to your USB memory stick:
- Insert the memory stick into the USB port in the center console of your Volvo
- Press NAV
- When the USB has been detected you will receive a pop up message on your Sensus Infotainment screen to accept the upload
- After you accept, the maps will begin uploading
If you need to shut off your Volvo before the maps have completed loading, simply leave the USB drive in the USB port and it will resume the update the next time you drive your Volvo.
NOTE: It can take over an hour for the maps to update depending on the file size.
