Volvo Cars today announces that its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jim Rowan, has been named one of TIME’s 100 most innovative leaders driving business climate action. This recognition highlights his outstanding contribution to creating sustainable business value while tackling the pressing challenges of climate change.
The TIME100 Climate List celebrates individuals making measurable, scalable impacts in addressing climate change. As part of a rigorous selection process, nominees were evaluated by TIME's editors in collaboration with the in-house climate experts at TIME CO2. They prioritized leaders driving transformative progress in energy, nature, finance, culture, and health, with an emphasis on recent, impactful actions over mere commitments.
Jim Rowan’s inclusion on this prestigious list is a testament to his visionary leadership and Volvo Cars’ ongoing commitment to driving a more sustainable future, protecting people and the planet, and improving lives. The company continues to aim for net zero emissions and become a circular business.
Commenting on the recognition Jim Rowan said:
“I’m honored to be included on the TIME100 Climate Leaders List among individuals driving impactful change. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of everyone at Volvo Cars. It takes thousands of dedicated people to drive our sustainability agenda forward, and we are united by a common ambition: to reduce the use of fossil fuels and take the actions required to advance the climate agenda.
We are at a pivotal moment in history, and the shift from fossil fuels to clean energy has never been more urgent. Electrification offers a powerful opportunity to reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and create more sustainable jobs. However, real progress needs collaboration and everyone can play their part. That includes businesses delivering on their sustainability ambitions, consumers choosing brands wisely, Governments prioritising clean energy through stable and supportive policies, and the financial sector accelerating capital allocation toward sustainable growth. Together, we can create a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future that benefits everyone today and the generations to come.
Lets keep pushing the agenda, today, tomorrow, together!”
Volvo Cars extends its thanks to TIME for recognizing Volvo Cars on its list and congratulates the other TIME100 Climate honorees for leading the way in fostering a more sustainable future.
