Volvo Cars concentrates and strengthens Swedish resources across fewer sites
Volvo Cars has decided to concentrate its competences and resources in Sweden across fewer sites, by relocating the majority of the responsibilities of its Stockholm office to the company's headquarters in Gothenburg. As a result, the Stockholm office will close on 1 March 2027.
The decision is aimed at creating a more focused and effective organisation. It will help Volvo Cars to simplify its business, reduce complexity and increase the speed of cross-functional collaboration, thereby strengthening the company’s competitiveness in an increasingly challenging market. It will also generate cost efficiencies that support Volvo Cars’ long-term ambitions.
Volvo Cars established the Stockholm office to access critical talent and strengthen key capabilities during an important phase of its transformation. Since then, it has played a significant role in building expertise in areas including software development, AI and digital customer experiences. The office has fulfilled an important purpose, and the capabilities built there continue to be important to the company.
Approximately 450 Volvo Cars employees are currently based in the Stockholm office. The transition will take place gradually until the office closes on 1 March 2027. Volvo Cars will manage the process in close dialogue with employees and employee representatives.
