The Volvo S40 1.6D DRIVe is the Green Car of the year in Great Britain (2:49)
It really was a “full house” for the S40 in the prestigious What Car? Green Car Awards competition for 2009. Not only did it win Best in its class for small family cars – it also won overall and even beat the winners of all the other classes. It is the highly respected motoring magazine What Car? that designates the Green Car of the Year. But to receive this award it is not enough that the car just has the best environmental characteristics. All new cars that are sold in Great Britain are nominated for the Green Car of the Year. This year there were 28 different models that competed for the prize and in the small family car class the S40 was declared the winner. The car has exactly those characteristics that this category of customer wants to have.
