Paying for a Charging Station

Paying for charging sessions on the Tesla Supercharger Network is easy within the Volvo Cars app. With a public charging account set up, you can see available stations, initiate a charging session, and handle payment with your credit card on file. How to Start & Stop A charge with the NACS Fast Charging Adapter 1. Open the Volvo Cars app and go to the map symbol Location_image.png2. Press the Tesla Supercharger pin and select the station number you are parked at. 3. Select a connector.    >If the station requires a NACS fast charging adapter, a badge saying NACS fast charging adapter required is displayed. 4. Select a payment method and press "Start charging". 5. Attach the adapter to the Tesla Supercharger cable. 6. Remove any covers from your car's DC charging port. 7. Plug the adapter into your car's charging port.     >When the adapter is fully inserted, you will hear a clicking sound as it locks into place. 

 

Frequently Asked Questions1. What is the Tesla Supercharger network?The Tesla Supercharger network is a DC fast charging network with more than 17,800 stations that are compatible with Volvo fully electric vehicles.  2. What is the North American Charging Standard (NACS)?Also referred to as SAE J3400, NACS is a charging standard that is being adopted across North America. 3. Can I charge my Volvo plug-in hybrid with a NACS adapter?No, Volvo plug-in hybrids can only charge via the J1772 standard. The NACS adapter is only intended for DC fast charging.  4. Can I use my NACS adapter at Tesla Destination Chargers or at Home with a NACS Charger?No. The NACS adapter is not compatible with Level 1 or Level 2 Alternating Current (AC) chargers, including Tesla Destination Chargers and home chargers with NACS connectors.  5. Which fully electric Volvo models can access the Tesla Supercharger Network?The Volvo EX90, EX30, EX40, EC40, XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge can access the network. 6. How do I get a Volvo approved NACS adapter?Adapters will be included as standard equipment with MY2025 EX90, EX40 and EC40. For existing customers, adapters are available for purchase at your retailer and will begin shipping on November 18, 2024. Only use an approved adapter for DC fast charging.  7. How will I find Tesla Supercharging sites?Beginning November 18, 2024, you will be able to locate compatible Tesla Supercharger sites for your Volvo car in the Volvo Cars app and your car's Google built-in Maps. 8. How will I know which stations require a NACS fast charging adapter?In the Volvo Cars app, there will be a 'NACS fast charging adapter required' badge for stations requiring a NACS fast charging adapter to charge at the location.  9. Which Tesla Supercharger generations are compatible?Generation 3 (V3) and beyond Superchargers will be open to Volvo drivers. Fully electric Volvo drivers will be able to use their Volvo Cars app and in-vehicle Google Maps to locate specific chargers.
