Display, sound, app or connectivity issues in your car

If the centre display, sound, apps, internet connection or connected services in your car are not working as expected, the information in this article can help you identify the appropriate solution.

Display

If the centre display is frozen, blank, restarting repeatedly, not responding as expected or not showing certain functions correctly, restarting the centre display may resolve the issue. Read your car's user manual for instructions on restarting the centre display.

Sound

If sounds such as media playback, navigation guidance, turn indicators or parking sensors are missing or not working as expected, restarting the centre display or updating your car's software may resolve the issue. Read the related article about troubleshooting the car's sound system for more information.

Apps

If apps are updated but do not load, close unexpectedly or can't be downloaded, restarting the centre display may resolve the issue. Read your car's user manual for instructions on how to restart the centre display.

Internet connection and connected services

If the car has no internet connection, connected services are unavailable, or the Volvo Cars app can't connect to the car, restarting the centre display may resolve the issue. Read your car's user manual for instructions on how to restart the centre display.

Behaviour that can be normal

Some behaviour may appear to be a fault but is part of the car's normal operation. For example:
  • The centre display can switch off after the car has been turned off to help protect the 12 V battery.
  • Some settings and preferences may be restored to their default values after a software update or system change.

If the issue remains

If the issue continues after restarting the relevant system, contact Volvo support or an authorised Volvo workshop.
