Subscription

To use the connected functions in the Volvo Cars app, the car requires a subscription for connected services. Your subscription includes emergency assistance and security services as well as app services.

Cars equipped with Google built-in1 are supplied with a subscription to digital services, which provides access to connected functions in the Volvo Cars app, as well as additional services. The subscription is valid for 4 years.

Status of subscription

The status of your subscriptions is shown in the Volvo Cars app under Subscription in the SuSi-21w22-VOC app icon profile tab. The subscription for connected services can also be renewed from here.

If you do not have access to the Volvo Cars app, contact your dealer who will help you to find information on the expiry date of your subscription. You then need to state the car's vehicle identification number2. For information on how to find the vehicle identification number, see Finding the car's VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).

Renew subscription for connected services

For information on how to renew your subscription for connected services, see Extending your subscription.

Message that the subscription for connected services will soon expire

If your Volvo is of model year 2011 or later, you will be notified that your subscription is about to expire and needs to be extended.

45 days before your subscription is set to expire, the message Volvo On Call subscription expires soon will be shown in the car's display. If you are using the Android or iOS version of the Volvo Cars app, you will also receive reminders in the app.

Deactivated subscription for connected services

When the subscription period has expired, you will receive a message in your car's display saying On Call deactivated (cars of model year 2011 or later only). This message disappears when the subscription is reactivated.

You will not be able to use connected services or the Volvo Cars app when your subscription has expired. However, the emergency services via the SOS button and automatic collision alert will continue to work for cars with internet connection. If you want to use connected services again, you have to renew your subscription, see 'Renew subscription' above.

Roadside assistance costs

Roadside assistance costs are included for the first X3 years when you buy a new Volvo. After this time has passed, in most of the markets, Roadside Assistance is offered free of charge providing the car has been serviced regularly at an authorised Volvo workshop. An authorised Volvo dealer can inform you about the status of your roadside assistance agreement.

You can get help to get you back on the road even if your Roadside Assistance agreement has expired. In this case, you will be asked to pay the cost for the service that is sent out to you.

 Note

If you do not have a valid road assistance agreement, additional recovery costs mat apply.
