Setting a home charging schedule in the Volvo Cars app

A charging schedule lets you set specific times for when your car should start and stop charging.

Setting charging schedules for home charging helps you to take advantage of cheaper, off-peak electricity rates.

Note

For specific charging information related to your car, see the relevant section in your car’s user manual.

Requirements for scheduled charging

Note

When connecting the charging cable, the car will briefly begin charging to verify the connection. If the battery level is below your set minimum charge level, it will charge to reach the minimum level before following any set schedule.
  • You'll need to have a home wallbox as scheduled charging is not available with a 3-pin plug.
  • For C40, EC40, EX30, EX40, EX90, XC40 Recharge Pure Electric scheduling can be done both through the Volvo Cars app and in the car.
  • For all other models, scheduling is only available through the Volvo Cars app.

Setting a schedule in the Volvo Cars app

  1. In the Volvo Cars app go to the Profile tab and select your wallbox.
  2. Press Charging > Add schedule and follow the instructions.

> Under Charging settings you can also change the Amp limit and Edit your schedule.

Overriding a charging schedule

You can override a charging schedule and charge straight away via the Volvo Cars app.

For the following cars: C40, EC40, EX40, V60, V90, XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, XC60, XC90.

You can also interrupt an ongoing scheduled charging session by doing the following:

  1. Unplug the charging cable from the car.
  2. Connect the cable again within 3 seconds.

> The scheduled charging will stop and normal charging will start.

Note

After overriding a schedule, you'll need to manually reset your charging schedule for it to work in the future.

LED indicators

When your car is in park (P) and the charging cable is connected:

  • A blue light indicates the car is set to charge according to schedule.
  • A green light shows that the car is charging.
